Sue is a level ll ParaYoga certified teacher, as well as an E-RYT 500 (experienced registered yoga teacher) with Yoga Alliance. She completed nine advanced-study courses with master teacher Yogarupa Rod Stryker of ParaYoga in 2009. “Para” means supreme, ancient, and highest. After 18 years of sampling classes with an eclectic mix of local, national and international yoga teachers, Sue feels blessed to have found two lifelong teachers in Rod and in his teacher, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Ph.D, spiritual leader of the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
About Rod, Sue says, “He combines ancient texts, personal experience, Tantric science and world view to offer a prescriptive approach aimed at healing and awakening students,” she says. Rod initiated Sue into the lineage of Swami Rama of the Himalayas in April 2005.
Sue’s life is greatly enriched by her studies and travels with Panditji. She traveled to India on a spiritual pilgrimage to Kamakhya in February 2009 and again in January 2013 for Kumbha Mela in Allahabad and to Kajuraho, where the institute has a sacred shrine.
She also attended “Living Tantra” taught by Panditji, and is awed and inspired by the teachings.
In 2010, Sue and Kathryn Templeton, a fellow ParaYoga teacher and friend, took their 500 hour teacher training group to the Himalayan Institute (see photo below) to study Living Tantra with Panditji.
Sue is an national consultant for The Four Desires, a book published by her teacher, Rod Stryker in July, 2011. She teaches the course, assists Rod with workshops, and offers teleconference follow ups. All this is geared to helping others discover and live their purpose. Additionally, Sue works privately to help students develop home yoga and meditation practices.
Sue is always seeking to expand her own personal knowledge and experience through self-study, meditation, personal practice, studies with her teachers and ongoing study of Sanskrit chanting.
Sue received her 200-hour certification from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Mass., in January 2003. She completed Yoga of the Heart™ with Nischala Joy Devi in March 2004, enabling her to effectively teach profound stress-reducing restorative yoga to all populations.
In addition, Sue is an Usui and Karuna Reiki master. Reiki is universal energy healing for body, mind and spirit. Sue offers distance Reiki and attunements for Reiki levels one, two, three and Masters.
